Alan Mayes Kindly Donates Special Artefacts to the STFC Museum
We were delighted to see Alan Mayes and Dave Hockaday at the recent match against Walsall. They were guests of Dick Mattick at his table and were fortunate to see an outstanding finish to the game and a vital 3 points in the Town’s promotion push.
We recently acquired Dave’s 85/86 Division 4 Championship medal, and Alan has kindly donated two very special artefacts to the Museum.
One is a tracksuit top from that memorable 1979/80 season, and also a commemorative sweater from the semi final tie against Wolves. Painful memories for all of us, not least Alan, who had his bottom teeth implanted into his top lip courtesy of the Wolves keeper, Bradshaw, in the second leg.
We are sincerely grateful to these two Town legends and look forward to seeing them again very soon.
