The Magnificent 7 – A Brilliant Night for the STFC Museum
Last night’s Magnificent 7 event (March 11th 2026), in the Legends Lounge was a big success, bringing fans, former players, and supporters of the Museum together for an evening packed with stories, laughs, and a proper celebration of our club’s history.

Looking Back at Our First Three Years
We shared an update on what the Museum team has achieved since launching in 2023, including:
- Building a collection of more than 10,000 artefacts
- Restoring displays around the stadium
- Producing the 1969 League Cup documentary
- Running 25+ free stadium tours for more than 500 visitors
- Restoring William Pitt’s grave
- Securing rare photos, medals and memorabilia
It’s been good progress by our small group of volunteers, and the room showed real appreciation for it.
Celebrating Seven Decades of Swindon Town
We also had stories from our “Magnificent 7” about their time with the club, ranging from memories of the 1969 League Cup Final to classic goals in the 70s and 80s, plus the emotional ups and downs of being denied promotion, picking themselves back up, and eventually reaching the Premier League. They spoke about how their careers started, what brought them to Swindon, and how the club became a huge part of their lives.

We were also proud to formally induct Jerel Ifil and Tom Jones into the STFC Hall of Fame, with both players receiving their official Hall of Fame ties.

What’s Coming Next
We also unveiled the Museum’s next steps, including:
- A brand-new website full of history, photos and videos
- A new supporter membership scheme
- Turning the Legends Lounge into our interim museum home, including the first digital touchscreen kiosk
-
More videos, more tours, and more ways for fans to get involved
There’s a lot to be excited about, and the response in the room was hugely positive.

A Special Moment
The night closed with the presentation of the new Dick Mattick Heritage Hero Award, which went to Paul Plowman for dedicating more than 50 years to documenting Swindon Town’s history. It was a well‑deserved tribute.

People stayed long after the formal close, chatting, sharing stories and talking about their favourite moments. It felt like the start of something even bigger – a Museum built by the supporters, for the supporters.
We’ll be sharing much more in the coming weeks, months and years – so look out for that at stfcmuseum.org
